Abstract
Various chitins, chitosans and phosphorylated chitosans by changing the molecular weight(MW), the degree of deacetylation and the degree of substitution of phosphated groups were synthesized on order to investigate the adsorption effect of radioactive strontium(85Sr). The adsorption amount of radioactive 85Sr were 5 ~ 15% for chitins, 40~60% for chitosans and 60~95% for phosphorylated chitosans. 80% or more of the total adsorption amount were done within 30 min. The adsorption amount of 85Sr were not changed by the different MW of chitins, but increased by lowering the MW of chitosans and phosphorylated chitosans. The highest adsorption effects of 85Sr for chitosan and phosphorylated chitosans were observed at pH 7. However, there were no difference for the adsorption effects of 85Sr by changing the degree of deacetylation of chitins and phosphorylated chitosans. In conclusion, the adsorption effect of 85Sr has been increased by lowering the MW of chitosan and phosphorylated chitosan and by increasing the degree of substitution of phosphorylated chitosan.
